Meet Pia & Ellie, embryologist, dyslexic & university graduate
“Stepping into the spotlight requires the courage to step out of my comfort zone”
Embarking on my first-ever modelling experience is a thrilling journey, an exhilarating challenge to showcase Ocean Road Swimwear’s ‘s exceptional line of swimwear. As a newcomer to the modelling world, this endeavor required courage to step out of my comfort zone and challenge lingering doubts about my self-worth.
“You can have power over negative thoughts about their body”
This journey is about more than just modelling; it’s a personal exploration of self-expression and breaking free from limitations. The experience adds excitement and responsibility, demonstrating that one can have power over their mind and negative thoughts about their body. Beyond the runway, my heart lies in the simple joys of life – hiking, getting lost in captivating books, and sharing moments with my loveable border collie, Ellie.
“Ellie became a guiding light through darkness”
Ellie, my loyal companion, entered my life during a time of battling eating disorders and depression. She became my guiding light, teaching me confidence and authenticity. Her presence during the modelling experience gave me the confidence to step into the unknown. She continues to remind me to embrace the simplicity of joy and authentic self-expression.
“My professional journey involves helping others navigate intimate struggles”
As an embryologist, my professional journey involves helping others navigate intimate struggles. The highs and lows of my patients become my own, fuelling my passion for making a positive impact. Reflecting on my journey, I take pride in overcoming challenges, from battling dyslexia and social anxiety to thriving in university and pursuing my dream of becoming an embryologist.
” Those who matter don’t mind, and those who mind don’t matter.”
My evolution from a sixth-grader grappling with dyslexia to a university graduate with first-class honours speaks volumes about the resilience within. Overcoming struggles with binge eating and anorexia nervosa, this debut symbolises embracing the strength within and appreciating that those who matter don’t mind, and those who mind don’t matter.
“Embrace the challenge”
At 28, in a size 14, I proudly embrace the beauty of my heart, brain, and eyes. My story stands as a reminder that true beauty lies in authenticity, strength, and the courage to embrace the unknown. The mantra, “Embrace the challenge, and don’t shrink yourself to fit other people’s expectations,” is a call to embrace authenticity, stand tall in individuality, and find strength in the beauty of being true to oneself. My journey is a testament to the transformative power of self-love, resilience, and the thrill of stepping into the spotlight for the very first time.
