The Story
Recently, the OceanRoad Swimwear team headed to the vibrant community of Richlands, Brisbane. We spent a morning at JUMP! Swim School, where the air is warm, the energy is loud, and the mission is vital.
While OceanRoad Swimwear is often found on the salt-sprayed beaches of the coast, we know that the love for the water begins long before the first wave hits the sand. It starts in the blue lanes of community pools, where confidence is built one bubble at a time. This collaboration was about more than just a photoshoot, it was about highlighting the joy of learning and the professional team ensuring the next generation, and the current one, is safe, empowered, and ready for the Australian summer.
The energy on the day was electric. Set against the bright, vibrant mural that serves as a memorial on the school’s walls, our team and the JUMP! staff had an absolute blast. We were joined by two inspiring women from the school’s mature learn-to-swim program. Seeing their bravery and joy in the water was a highlight of the day. The photos captured during this shoot reflect that genuine fun, with everyone diving into the spirit of the day in their favorite OceanRoad Swimwear pieces.

OceanRoad Swimwear: Elisabeth, you have an incredible international community at Richlands. What makes it so unique?
Elisabeth: We are fortunate to have a very special international community of families who are passionate about ensuring their children can swim safely here in Queensland. Many of the children we teach are the first in their family to learn to swim. It is important to all of our instructors that we equip every single one of our swimmers with the lifesaving skills they need to stay safe at home, at the pool, and at the beach. Plus, we all have a lot of fun together!
OceanRoad Swimwear: How does your personal passion for the water drive your professional work?
Elisabeth: I have been a water baby all my life. Since learning to swim in the UK, I’ve swum across the English Channel from Dover to France, and even around the Sydney Opera House. It is a privilege to teach someone to swim, and particularly to help an adult to overcome their fear of the water. My passion and purpose is to share practical water safety skills with as many people as I can.
The Heart of the Brand: Meet the Team
Behind every splash is a teacher cheering them on. We caught up with Kara and Alysha poolside to talk about the culture that makes this school thrive.
The Daily Spark For Kara, the magic is in the milestones. “My favorite part is absolutely watching the kids when they master a new skill. Whether it’s just being able to get in on their own or mastering a new stroke, there is something purely magical about the spark in their eye and the pride that beams off them. Being able to be a part of that and celebrate with them is such a special part of my job.”
Inclusion and Confidence The team environment doesn’t just empower the students, it empowers the staff. Alysha shared how the inclusive culture at Richlands has impacted her own professional confidence. “I am definitely confident to express myself. I don’t worry about what everyone thinks about my singing or my body. We try to make everyone feel welcome, included, and enjoy learning.”
