“Each birth was amazing and showed me how incredible our bodies are!”

Something about me that not everyone knows is that I gave birth to my three children at home during planned homebirths. For two of my sons, we had a midwife present, and with my middle son, he arrived before the midwife got there! It was an empowering and special experience for me and my husband. Each birth was amazing and showed me how incredible our bodies are. A perfect day for me now would probably involve some beach or pool time, a massage, and a yummy meal out. I also relax and recharge by spending time in the sun, enjoying beautiful views, and doing some gentle movement.

I love drifting on a boat around the Whitsundys with good friends and good food. Catching up, enjoying wine and nibbles, and sharing the ups and downs of life is my idea of a perfect day. I often remember something a patient of mine said many years ago: “We all have the same destination, but we control the journey!” It’s a wonderful reminder to live life on my own terms.

I wear many hats—mum, wife, sister, daughter, and aunt—but most of all, I am me. I enjoy music (listening to and playing), reading, watching movies, and spending time with my family. These are the things that bring me joy when I’m not working.

I’m 45, married to Jason, who’s been by my side since high school. Our daughter, Letishia, is 21 now, and being her mum has been the joy of my life. I’ve spent the past two decades teaching swimming, focusing on infants, kids with autism, and beginner adults. I love watching my students overcome their fears and find confidence in the water, just as I have in other areas of my life.
