“My journey with water has truly been a transformative one”

From fear to empowerment, my relationship with water has been a journey of transformation. Growing up in England, a failed attempt at swimming lessons left me terrified of the water. However, immigrating to South Africa exposed me to a land of vast waters and a culture where swimming seemed inherent to belonging. Slowly, through play and perseverance, I learned to navigate the water, eventually feeling like a mermaid amidst the waves.

As a petite 57-year-old, modeling for Ocean Road Swimwear was a daunting prospect. Having spent a lifetime grappling with body image insecurities, I approached the opportunity with trepidation. However, Ocean Road Swimwear’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity embraced all body types, including mine. With their swimwear range, I found comfort and confidence, realizing that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.

“Thank you Ocean Road Swimwear for Embracing Diversity”

Being chosen as a model for Ocean Road Swimwear was a moment of both apprehension and gratitude. As someone who has long felt marginalized by mainstream beauty standards, their celebration of diversity was a breath of fresh air. Modelling their swimwear allowed me to embrace my uniqueness and feel confident in my own skin, proving that beauty knows no boundaries.

it would be lovely if a horizontal drawstring were around the hem to be able to cinch tightly…

love it! there’s room to run with this piece, what other designs may come?
